COMMUNICATIONS AND BULLETIN BOARDS
****************************************************************************
BBS.01 STARNET BBS - A very flexible program which allows you to customise
the system to your own needs. Twenty Sigs are allowed along with 20
upload/download areas. The system can be configured to allow users to play
games on-line if desired. Includes Star Term,a communications program which
can be called up via Starnet. Has been configured to run Humber Bridge BBS
and only needs name of board, welcome screen etc changed to suit.
BBS.02 CITADEL v3.0 - A complete bulletin board system. This like
Starnet, is a very powerful system. However, it needs to be set up by the
user. Menus will have to be set up as ASCII files where appropriate.
BBS.03 MERCURY - Everything you need to run your own BBS, except a hard
drive and a modem of course! Everything is configured to run from Drive D.
Edit the Config.Sys file to suit.
BBS.04 PANDORA - A fully user configurable suite of programs intended to
let you design and run your own BBS. Very comprehensive and compatible with
the popular Fido Net format. THE BOX - A stand alone mail handling utility
which can be used with Pandora. If required, The Box can act as the
permanent front end of your BBS. Once again Fido Net compatible.

- The GEM version of this file transfer utility by Berlin University. TERM -
ASCII transfer utility. STXMODEM - VT52 emulator (includes help files etc).
DTE - Dumb terminal emulator. STTERM2 - VT52 emulator. UNITERM V2.0E -
VT102 emulator by Simon Poole. This version offers all features of
commercial packages except a telephone book and a viewdata emulation mode.
It may be the only comms package that you ever need. Extensive documentation
on disk.
COM.13 VANTERM v4.0 - A GEM based communications package written by
Vanguard Datasystems. Supports XModem, YModem and ASCII transfer. Comes
complete with numerous disk utilities. This program is Shareware but in
many ways better than commercial products at ten times the price. It will
not support Viewdata or split baud rates like 1200/75. You can run the V23
emulator which is included to allow 1200/75 transmission. Surely the easiest
and best program for going on the bulletin boards. Full on-screen help can
be called up if needed. As good as Uniterm (COM.09) but more user
friendly. Highly recommended. Please note that you cannot download files
from a BBS unless you have 1 Meg of memory. ZMDM v1.62 - A Unix style
communications package which can successfully communicate with Unix based
host machines. Emulates a 80*25 terminal (80*50 on high res). Supports X-
Modem, Y-Modem and Z-Modem file transfer protocols. Full user manual and C
source code on disk. Cannot support split baud rates.
COM.15 NET ST by Phil Karn (KA9Q TC/IP Net on the ST) - For use with host
systems running the above protocol. I really can't comment much on this disk
as it refers to a system that I am not familiar with. If anyone can
elaborate, please do so. It looks like a very competent program which is
very badly documented. MOTERM ELITE v1.41 - Perhaps the best communications
program available. Fully GEM based. It has the ability to transfer sound and
graphics over the modem as well as normal files. In addition it features a
new protocol Dmodem which is compatible with but better than Xmodem.
Originally a commmercial program but now Shareware. Requires 1 Meg of
memory.

is mainly used on 144.625 MHz. This version supports file uploading and
downloading, automatic mail forwarding and numerous other functions such as
finger, telnet and ttylink. You can also have your station used as a node as
well as all of the above. You will need to have an IP number allocated to
you in the form of [44.131.x.xxx] from your local IP co-ordinator before
using the program. You will just need to change G6ACT to your own callsign
and [44.131.2.38] to your IP address. You will also need a HOSTS.NET file
which you should enquire locally for. Also included on disk is the gulam
shell and the BM Mailer which are used in conjunction with the program. A
hard drive is recommend but not essential. Net requires a TNC which operates
in KISS mode. This is the nearest Amateur Radio implementation of Internet
there is and is highly recommended.

access to the 'guest' areas of Compunet. It lets you log on and try the
system out first before you decide whether or not to sign up. You require a
Hayes compatible modem to use this software. Colour only. MULTRAN V1.0 - An
XModem file transfer utility which runs as a background task i.e. you can do
other things on your computer while up/downloading. NOPRO - Creates ANSI
animations. It even lets you draw lines, squares and circles like you would
in an art package. SERIAL FIX V2.0 - Fixes the RTS/CTS problem with the

can even animate if you're clever enough. Two example screens are supplied
to get you started.
COM.3894 QUICK BBS V1.10 - An excellent Shareware package from Holland. You
have everything you need to run your own bulletin board. It is entirely
menu driven and all menus can be set up to suit by the sysop. Quick BBS
automatically detects incoming calls and switches your modem to the correct
baud rate. It operates in VT52 or ANSI mode and automatically switches to
download mode if a Zmodem signal is detected. You can even switch to BBS
mode during a voice call to save the caller from having to call back. The
system supports the Jekyll bi-modem protocol as well as the usual XModem,
YModem, Zmodem and variants of these. Up to 200 message areas and an
unlimited amount of file areas can be set up. Quick BBS is fully FidoNet
compatible, linking your BBS to 20000 others worldwide. There's well over
300K of docs on disk and the entire system takes up around 1000K on your

baud (if you have a Falcon, TT or Mega STE). CQWK v2.0e by Dirk Hoeschen -
Captain's QWK is one of the ST's standard QWK mail handling programs. QWK is
a method of bundling all your messages from/to a BBS into one file, then
compressing it using ARC, ZIP, LZH, or some similar archiving utility.
Similar to BlueWave on the PC. It saves lots of online time (and phone
bills)! This version has many improvements, mainly in window handling and
allowing the use of external programs such as text editors. Your terminal
program can even be defined as external, if you have enough memory, letting
you do everything from inside CQWK. STLOGIN v4 by Kees Lemmers - A suite of
utilities to handle remote operations on an ST from the other end of a
serial connection. Mainly intended for use with MiNT. Has many UN*X type
commands. XYZPATCH - Patches XYZ.TTP v2.02B to allow you to change the

protocols, Fido mail and almost everything else you can think of!
COM.4151 & COM.4152 SUPER PACKET ST v6.10.11 - This package must be one
of the most advanced pieces of Amateur Radio software around. Super (Eskay)
Packet supports the IBM character set and has a screen display split in
three for text sent, text received and 'traced' packets. You need a TNC with
'The Firmware' installed, or a TNC in Kiss Mode and the TFPCR.PRG shell
installed, for the program to work. There is an extensive 120k manual
archived on disk. There is also a PMS and Node function and you can install
new commands into your PMS. You can autoroute to different stations and also
up/download software to and from other SP stations. On the accompanying disk
there are extra programs which can be installed as commands on your system.
Also included is the TFPCR Firmware emulator by <NORD-LINK>. Super Packet is
highly recommended to any serious Packet user, especially on the busier
frequencies. The PC version is a commercial package but the ST version
remains freeware! Needs 1 Meg.
COM.4153 - This disk is mainly a support disk of utilities for Super Packet
users. ANALYZER - Run after a system crash to find out why the system hung
up or crashed. AUTOPATH v1.2 and v1.4 - This German program is useful in

it to your preference. SPTALK - This is an add-on to Super Packet which is
like Superkiss for Amiga/PC. It gives Super Packet a voice! You will need to
record your own phonetic alphabet using a sampler, and then you can sit back
and listen as your ST talks to you!
COM.4296 ORACLE v1.4 by Paul Lefebre - A powerful script to automate GEnie
access. Better than Aladdin if you use MultiTOS or Geneva. Many message and
RoundTable functions can be set up easily and quickly. Can only be used with
STalker 3 or STeno. HSMODEM7 - A collection of modular serial port patches
for the ST, TT and Falcon. Allows very high serial port speeds up to 57600
baud, or 115200 baud with a hardware modification. As well as fixing various
hardware bugs on the serial port, HS Modem also gives a faster throughput
even with slower modems due to the removal of the bottleneck caused by the
restricted port speed. Also increases communication speed via the Midi
ports. Now with English docs and an easy to use setup program. LITS v2.44+

and cursor key support. You can even use quoting as long as you have a copy
of Super Quoter by Bill Miller.
COM.4363 STORM v1.02 by Alan Page - A full featured GEM based telecomms
program with its own built-in BASIC language. This allows you to control
STORM's actions from script files. STORM is modular, so upgrading the
program to emulate a different type of terminal or a new transfer protocol
is simply a case of obtaining the appropriate module and reconfiguring your
system. The current version can be configured to emulate TTY,
VT100/VT102/VT52 and Vidtex terminals. File transfers in ASCII, CompuServe
BPlus, X/Y/Z-Modem (and the numerous variants of these) are all catered for.
This program was originally marketed commercially by Double Click Software
but has since been upgraded and re-released as Shareware. It will run on any
ST/STE, TT, Mega ST or Falcon030 and is compatible with MultiTOS, large
screen monitors and graphics cards. Extensive docs on disk running to well
over 100k. Very highly recommended, probably the best comms program there
is! INTERNET - Two text files which will prove invaluable to comms users.
The first is entitled 'Zen and the Art of the Internet'. It is a beginners'
guide covering everything you'll ever need to know about Internet and runs
to 102 pages! The second file is titled 'ARCHIE' and is a 16 page reference
guide to using the Internet archive server listing service, also known as
ARCHIE.

also search by name, print BBS details, set search radius, etc. Only 100
BBSs are included in this demo version. If you register (only £5) the full
version has over 400 BBSs and many other functions. NOT TOS 2 upwards.
EMAILLST by Achim Wilhelm - A directory of all German programmers available
on Mausnet (a large hobbyist network in Germany). Includes both the Mausnet
and Internet addresses. GSZRZ v6.6 by Michael Ziegler - X/Y/Z-Modem send and
receive programs for ST and TT. All docs in German. V4 is available from the
author with English docs. Reputed to be one of the fastest Z-Modem utilities
around. HSMODEM7 - A collection of modular serial port patches for the ST,
TT and Falcon. Allows very high serial port speeds up to 57600 baud, or
115200 baud with a hardware modification. As well as fixing various hardware
bugs on the serial port, HS Modem also gives a faster throughput even with
slower modems due to the removal of the bottleneck caused by the restricted
port speed. Also increases communication speed via the Midi ports. Now with
English docs and an easy to use setup program.
COM.4428 38400BPS by JÜrgen Meyer - Circuit diagram and full instructions
on to upgrade your ST's serial port to run at 38400 baud, just like a
Falcon. Warning: DO NOT try this yourself unless you have nimble fingers and
are skilled with a soldering iron! Also remember, this will invalidate your
warranty if your machine is less than 1 year old! Most docs in German.
FLASH2D by Missionware Software - A demo version of the Flash II v2.2
terminal program. Uses Flash DO scripts from previous versions. Features
include complete parameter settings for each BBS you call, up to 20 macros
per BBS plus 10 global macros, displays RLE or GIF pictures on or off line,
supports all terminal types i.e. TTY, VIDTEX, VT52, ANSI, VT100, VT101,
VT102, VT200, PRESTEL, full RTS/CTS support, auto-answer mode, built-in GEM-
based text editor, ST, IBM and DEC character sets and supports all popular
transfer modes i.e. ASCII, X-, Y-, Z-Modem, YModem-G, Modem7, WXModem, CIS
B, Kermit, Sealink. Many other functions too numerous to list! There are
some limitations in this demo version and a time limit of 50 minutes per
session. You must register for the unrestricted version. MODEM0DEV by Tierry
Bousch - Serial device drivers for the "modem1" serial port under MiNT.
Creates a Un*x-like daemon which supports separate virtual input/output
ports through the same single serial port. Includes full documentation and C
source code as well as an enhanced stty(1) utility. MOUNTAIN READER v2.9 by
Anthony Watson - Full featured QWK off-line mail reader. QWK is a protocol
for bundling all your messages from/to a BBS into one compressed file. This
method saves lots of online time! You will also need the ARC, LZH or ZIP
archivers, depending on your BBS settings. Functions include offline
conference configuration, twit file and many others. Needs at least 1 Meg,
works better with 2 Meg or more. YMODEM-G v1.25 by Zipline Software - One of
the fastest file transfer protocols available. Full documentation included.
COM.4498 ARKADE v1.7 by Lee Offenberger - Arkade Controller is designed to
allow on-line games to be run by remote users on a BBS. Full instuctions are
provided to set up doors to run the games through. Arkade is shareware, and
sysops using it are encouraged to register. Also included are the Skeleton
Key, IO and Call File Selector BBS utilities. Note: Arkade is designed to
work with BBS Express v1.72 and up. IGEDIT v2.5 by Larry Mears - Instant
Graphics & Sound Editor is an accessory which sits between your terminal
program and the screen. When IGS commands are received, they are carried out
to produce graphics, sound and animation effects using a simple LOGO-like
language. Reputedly, this is good enough to make well designed VT52 graphics
look bad! Needless to say, the BBS at the other end must use IGS for you to
get any benefit. TURBORS v1.0 by Neat & Nifty Software - A PD release of the
software part of the TurboRS package. TurboRS is an upgrade to the ST's
serial port to allow speeds of up to 115200 baud. The extra hardware
generates a faster clock signal to drive the serial port at these higher
speeds. Note that without this hardware, you can't go faster than the
standard 19200 baud. The complete package costs $44 Canadian, including
shipping charges. VULCAN EMBASSY BBS - A complete BBS system, offering
message bases and online game support. Apparently it only runs at
300/1200/2400 baud. A bit basic, but everything seems to be there to allow
you to set up a complete working BBS of your own.
COM.4547 FLASHDIAL - Script files for the Flash terminal emulator which
allow you to autodial a list of numbers (from 3 to 10 numbers in total) and
redial only those which did not connect. OMNI BBS V1.01 - A BBS with a
difference, this one can run from a floppy based system. It is compatible
with VT52, VT100, VT130, VT220, ANSI Televideo 912, 920, 925 and IBM 3101
terminals. If you just have one drive, message areas will be limited and
uploading and downloading will be disabled. Apart from that, the system is
fully functional. A ramdisk is needed if you do not own a hard drive and one
is supplied with the package. RINGBACK V1.0 - Allows you to run a BBS and a
voice phone on the same line. This programs checks for a specified number of
rings and sets up the BBS to receive an incoming call the next time the
phone rings (if appropriate). THE THIEVES GUILD V1.0 - A massive Shareware
role playing game for running on a BBS. The game was developed over a period
of five years and can be played for up to 24 minutes per day, with each
minute equivalent to one hour of real time. There is also a module available
on support BBS's for downloading which supports instant menu display,
digitised sound, visual effects for all Atari users dialing into your BBS.
This is a multi-player RPG where different callers to the BBS interact
(albeit not in real time) with each other in the course of the day's events!
It comes with an extensive manual on disk which includes plenty of hints and
tips to get you going.
COM.4548 ON-LINE MODEM PROGRAMS - A collection of games which can be played
whilst connected to a bulletin board or by connecting two ST's together via
a null modem cable. QUEST V1.37 by JPSCAB - On line adventure game with full
instructions on how to install but very little clues as to the game content!
Runs on FoReM and BBS Express based bulletin boards. Freeware. MAZE COMBAT
V1.095 by Sean Dougherty - A two player over-the-modem game which revolves
around a massive number of mazes and robots which you can use to battle it
out with friends or enemies. Weapons include missiles and mines! Runs on any
ST/STE/TT Falcon in low res. A graphics accelerator and a blitter are
recommended if you are using an 8Mhz 68000 based machine. Shareware. REVENGE
OF ZORGOTH by Pandamonium Software - Demo version of ongoing Medieval
adventure game. Quest cannot be completed unless you register. Short docs so
you are on your own a bit. Shareware. ST NATIONAL V1.10 by Four Wheels BBS -
An on-line drag racing game which looks very comprehensive with many options
including the choice of car components, gear ratio and even a choice of
tyres! A store is included where you can buy everything from piston-rings to
new engine. Obviously the more points you get from wins, the better you can
build up your car. TRIVIAL PURSUIT V2.00 by Keith Ledbetter for BBS EXPRESS!
- This game is based around two ideas, the actual Trivial Pursuit board game
and the previous trivia scripts written by EXPRESS! All the functions are
contained in one .COM file and options include adding questions to the game,
setting the time limit and much more. Short docs but this game is well known
to many so should not be a problem. Please note that this game consists of
scripts for use on BBS EXPRESS! and cannot be used with other systems. WREST
V1.51 by Shawn Smith - An on-line wrestling game where you have options to
choose such characteristics as weight, strength, intelligence and much more.
All the moves and their success (or failure!) is based upon a random number
generation. Short docs again but as the author states, the game is pretty
obvious. Shareware. STAR BATTLE V1.02 by Kevin Moody - A Star Trek type game
where you venture into Outer Space on a trading and exploration mission.
Fully mouse controlled which makes a change from most on-line games.
COM.4549 ON-LINE MODEM PROGRAMS - Another collection of games which can be
played whilst connected to a bulletin board or by connecting two ST's
together via a null modem cable. CONFLICT by Bobby Shaughnessy - A 'Conquer
The World' on-line game. It features mouse control plus colour graphics and
sound and supports up to 20 players in the Registered version. The object is
to conquer the world by forming legions. You get one legion for every
country you win or continue to hold, for one day. Your computer takes over
in attack mode with odds for and against you, plus much more. This is a very
comprehensive on-line game. Shareware. DIP V1.4 by Jeff Fehlman - A Door
Interface Program that allows on-line games to be run on a BBS that might
not otherwise be able to run them. It does this by writing the information
file in the format the game expects. In addition, DIP provides a menu driven
interface with the user and logs user actions if required. Set up docs
included. Shareware. HILO V1.4 by Matt Heaton - A high-low score recording
system for on-line games between players with configurable options such as
the setting of upper and lower limits. Includes short setup docs. For use
with BBS EXPRESS. HORSE V1.0 - A BBS horse racing program which gives you
the thrill of on-line horse racing, well almost! You are given $100 to start
with and must accumulate as much money as you can. If you lose and go broke,
you get kicked off the track! IRON BOMBER 2 by David Rudda Jnr - Rather than
controlling a plane as in Iron Bomber 1, you now command a defensive role
and must take out the attacking air strikes. Includes good documentation on
installation and options include high score tables to accommodate both 1200
- 2400 baud users and high speed modem users. Players should read the docs
relating to time allowed per day or you could time-out in the middle of
playing! Shareware. SPACE EMPIRE ELITE V11.37 by Jon Radoff - A very
comprehensive on-line game for up to 25 players. The object of the game is
to become the richest person in terms of power (money, military strength,
size) and to achieve the highest score. The computer controls an empire
known as the Satharian Empire, which is populated by a race of evil lizard-
like creatures whose sole interest is to kill off your population. The
Satharians may attack you at random, even capturing some of your planets.
Many options and game configurations are available for players. As this is a
multi-player game, there is a time limit on play-time and the SysOp of each
board configures the turns per day. You may use some of the turns, quit the
game and decide to play later in the day. ON LINE BLACKJACK by Eric Drewry -
Like so many on-line games, there's extensive installation docs and very
little on gameplay. Still, if you play Blackjack this won't present a
problem!
COM.5047 MULTI-USER DUNGEON (MUD) - This is the ST version of the original
on-line Dungeons and Dragons game that started it all! There's no fancy
graphics, MUD is entirely text based. Extensive documentation is included,
but it's every bit as cryptic as the game itself! MUD runs on any ST/E with
at least 1 Meg of memory and a hard drive. A great game to add to your BBS,
which is bound to pull in more users. PLEASE NOTE:- MUD has been compressed
to fit onto a floppy disk and MUST be decompressed to a hard drive before
use.
COM.5099 MSB_ANSI by Mark S Baines - These three GDOS bitmapped fonts are
equivalent to the three Atari system fonts and based on them, but include
the ANSI characters suitable for comms on-line use and those using so-called
IBM printer fonts in their word processor. In effect, the fonts are those
officially called PC-8 Code Page 437 on the PC. Protext users will find them
particularly useful. The included docs explain how to set them up in the
ASSIGN.SYS file for use with NVDI or install them under NEODesk. TEDDY TERM
V2.14 by Uncensored Software - A complete terminal program which uses ANSI,
VT100, VT52 & ASCII terminal emulations. Can be set for virtually any
imaginable configuration. Its many options include modem setup, rough call
costing, X-Modem, Y-Modem and Z-Modem support, RS232 buffer sizes, ST, Mac
or PC font, use of both left and right mouse buttons and auto logon
sequences. If fact Teddy Term can even 'learn' logon sequences and save
these for future use! Up to 45 BBS numbers can be stored in the dial
directory and up to 40 keyboard macros can be used to help cut down on your
on-line typing. Different capture buffers can be set up for different BBS's
and for different days with data being stored for up to 21 days. This latest
version also supports the Jekyll file transfer protocol which lets you send
and receive at the same time. Jekyll and XYZ transfer programs are also
included with the package. Teddy Term is not GEM based but instead employs
the use of pop-up menus to configure everything. Powerful, yet easy to set
up and use. Highly recommended.
COM.5161 FSERIAL V0.96E by Roman Hodeck - An update to a similar program on
UTL.3879. A comprehensive program which attempts to fix the problem with the
RTS/CTS handshaking. The problem the ST/STe/TT has, occurs when a high speed
modem is used in conjunction with ZMODEM or any near continuous flow
transfer program is used to send data. The failure to support the RTS/CTS
protocol properly results in the modem buffer overflowing and this leads to
errors in data transmission. Fserial is supplied as an Auto folder patch and
CPX module for use with XControl. SHADOW TERM II by Michael Forget - Very
comprehensive terminal program which incorporates a good direct menu-driven
user interface. Includes a host of disk functions and a wide range of
terminal commands not found on other similar types of programs. A special
interface is included which allows you to run up to 10 programs with a
single key stroke. Shadow Term uses XYZ external transfer protocol and
Ymodem-G external protocol, both of which are included on this disk.
Shareware. MT C_SHELL UUCP V2.0 - These files update the corresponding files
from the UUCP distribution. They require MT C_Shell V2.00 and are an update
only as you will need the remaining files from the version of UUCP already
installed on your MT_SHELL system in addition to these files. In other
words, this patch is no use to you unless you already have an earlier
version of MT C_Shell UUCP.
COM.5183 HTML DOCS - Extensive documentation on HyperText Markup Language
(HTML) and how to use it to create your own documents for the World Wide
Web. There's a detailed explanation of the HTML v1.0 standard, a quick start
guide and some examples of HTML in operation. KIVI QWK READER V2.03 - Almost
all BBS messages nowadays are stored in QWK format. Kivi is an off-line QWK
reader. In other words, you download your mail messages, log off and load up
Kivi. It recognises the packing method used, unpacks your mail, lets you
read it, reply to it or compose new mail messages. These are then packed and
saved in the QWK format ready to be uploaded the next time you log on. Kivi
can also unpack your replies just in case you decide to edit them. It also
allows you to extract mail items from the QWK packet in ASCII format. QWK
readers are not uncommon, but what makes Kivi unique is the fact that it is
Multi-TOS and SpeedoGDOS compatible (and indeed enhanced for these systems).
Kivi has lots more options and lets you customise everything to suit your
own preferences and save your settings. One of the best QWK readers
available.
COM.5249 OASIS (One Atari Solution to Internet Software) V1.35E by Phil
Yeadon and Dave Levi - An impressive GEM based front end for accessing the
Internet on your Atari. With the advent of cheap high speed modems and local
access numbers, getting connected to the Internet is seriously worth
considering. Until recently, Demon Internet were the only service provider
to supply Atari software and what was available was command line driven and
archaiac to say the least! Oasis replaces this with a friendly menu based
system which lets you log on and off with the minimum of hassle. Once off-
line, Oasis' offline mailreader and newsreader allow you to browse through
your email and your selected newgroups at your leisure. As for sending out
email or posting messages to the newsgroups, that couldn't be easier. Oasis
as supplied, is ready to run (just alter the setup files to suit) and
includes an Atari specific guide to get you up and running. The only thing
you can't do is browse the World Wide Web, but that's promised for v2.0.
Very highly recommended, requires 1 Mb and a hard drive.
COM.5267 REJOINDER V1.3 by William Wong - A very comprehensive QWK off-line
reader. This is a complete version featuring GEM menus, windows, dialog
boxes, toolbars, hotkeys, fast window redaws, the ability to view or reply
to up to 5 different mails at any one time, online context sensitive help
with ST Guide and much more! Rejoinder gives the user full configuration of
preferred compression programs and has the ability to automatically
recognise the type (lzh, zip, arc etc) of QWK files being uploaded and call
up the apropriate one for unpacking. Also included is a TALK feature (you
must have SPEAK.TOS in your startup directory) which will read out mails in
conferences. This program has many, many more features and is highly
recomended. TERMINOLGY by Paul Foster - An excellent Shareware
communications program which will run on ALL Atari machines. This program
offers many options including the choice of several terminal emulations
(there is currently support for TTY, VT52, ANSI, IGS, RIP and VIEWDATA).
User defined options include audio on/off, RS232 settings, system options,
edit paths, macros, capture setup, autodialer, batch queue, extensive
keyboard control. Terminology also supports scrollback, file transfer, split
screen chatting and has a built-in text editor. Extensive docs included.
Terminology is colour only and needs 1 Mb.
COM.5268 BINKLEY TERM V3.17 by Bit Bucket Software - The Atari conversion of
a popular DOS based comms program. Although Binkley Term is TOS based with
no graphic interface, it has many redeeming features. It can be used as a
standard comms package for logging on to a BBS, or as a BBS system itself.
In addition, Binkley Term fully supports the changed serial port
designations on the TT and Falcon and can send and receive faxes if you have
a Zyxel fax modem. A popular program with Stateside users. BTNC V1.10 by
Daniel Roesen - BinkleyTerm ST Nodelist Compiler. This program claims to
many advantages over previous offerings. It supports a full 5D nodelist
(only 3 files are required for the output nodelist, no matter how many
domains you use). There is no need for PR24USER anymore as nearly all
nodelist flags are parsed and all sysops are now included in one file. It is
also possible to include FrontDoor-style pointlists. PARSELST V1.10 by Bob
Hartman - A nodelist processing program for processing a Fidonet nodelist.
It uses a control file to process the information contained in a raw,
"St.Louis" nodelist, and turn the information into a form usable by several
Fidonet compatible BBS and mailer packages, including BinkleyTerm, Opus-
CBCS, TBBS and QuickBBS. ParseLst is capable of producing so-called "new
Opus style" (Version 6) nodelist files for use with BlinkleyTerm 1.21 and
above, or Opus-CBCS 1.10 and above. APOINTS.FAQ - Atari Point System
Frenquenly Asked Questions V0.4 by Paul Civati. This document has been
written to help answer questions about setting up or running a point system
on an Atari. Primarily written for the TurboNet T_POINTS echo but should
serve as FAQ for running a point system on an Atari for any mail work.
POINT.TXT - A description of the mechanisms by which Fidonet mail can be
accessed on-line, off-line and by pointing. The document will be distributed
initially as a whole, but you are encouraged to split it into its three
parts if you feel that may be more useful ( i.e., you think someone might
read a short document, but not the whole thing).
COM.5314 STARCALL v2.0e - A completely integrated communications program.
It comes in three parts, terminal emulator, BBS and fax software. You just
install the parts that you need. You can run your own bulletin board, dial
in to on-line services and send/receive faxes, all from this integrated
suite of programs. The terminal package emulates VT52, VT100, VT200, VT220 &
ANSI terminals and the Xmodem and Ymodem file transfer protocols are built-
in. There's a log book which keeps track of your calls during the month,
even costing them for you! Auto logons to your favourite BBS can be learnt
on the fly and a system password can be used to prevent unauthorised access
to your system. What's more, if you have a ZyXEL modem, you can turn your
computer into an automated voice mail system! The fax module is very
powerful, allowing you to add logos and signatures to 1st Word/Wordplus and
ASCII documents. It even lets you convert IMG files and Calamus documents
into faxes. Faxes can be sent at high resolution, giving even better results
than those produced by a fax machine. You can even set up the software to
queue up faxes and answer incoming calls. Shareware software at its very
best. Starcall needs a hard drive.
COM.5317 AM-RADIO - Excellent data reference program (using Super Card V1.3)
which contains an extensive listing of the location of local radio stations
in the UK, plus full address, tel and fax numbers. Also included is listing
of World Wide radio Stations and their locations. Last but not least is a
full listing of operations and relevant frequencies between 1.6Mhz and
30Mhz, which will be of great interest to short wave radio users. IOSmail
V0.89 by R Visscher - Very comprehensive mail tosser program package with
full instructions and user manual included. TOSmail is a program that
imports, exports, scans and crunches FidoNet mail and FidoNet compatible
mail. TOSmail will import and create files as described in the file FIS-
0001. Only these type of files are supported by TOSmail. TXT-2-PRG V1.0 by M
J Matts - A Shareware program which displays file lists by first converting
the text to program files. ICE-PACK v2.4 (not included) is needed to pack
the files.
COM.5421 SHADOWRUN MATRIX CREATOR v1.32 by Brian Duff - A computer
controlled GamesMaster for use with the on-line Shadowrun role-playing game.
MASTIC by Walu Software - The latest generation TIC processor which is fully
compliant with the latest FTSC standard. It is used for automating tasks on
bulletin boards. If you don't know what a TIC processor is, you don't need
one! COSTA V1.50 by Gary Priest - Reads details of your Internet calls from
NOS.LOG and works out the total length of time spent on-line and the cost of
the calls. You can customise the call charges and charging rates to reflect
those appropriate to where you dial for your Internet access. It knows about
time zones, standard, cheap rate and weekend call tariffs as well as minimum
call charges. It even includes the VAT! What's more, you can clear all old
data when you pay the bill so that remaining data is valid for the next one.
MODEM CONFIG V0.1B by Xavier Lucroze - Gives information on the speed,
serial number and country code of your modem. AVALON V3.76 by Stephan
Slabihoud - An alternative to Tiny-Shell. It is a GEM based shell for points
in a FidoNet or compatible system. It is of use to individuals who have
their own point setup and also to BBS sysops as it allows them to automate
many routine tasks such as generating user lists, performing unattended
polling, file requests, setting up a msgbase, hatching files, converting
pointlists and nodelists in uselists etc. Please note that you will also
need a mailer program (Binkley Term or Semper), an importer (Llegada or
JetMail) and a message editor (LED). THE LITTLE VILLIAN MORSE TUTOR by
Gareth Jones - Designed to help get you through your morse code test for
your amateur radio licence. It sends you 60 strings, each consisting of 5
random letters, numbers or a combination of the two. Any string of
characters can be entered and converted into morse. Even an ASCII file
can be converted.
COM.5448M, COM.5449M, COM.5450M, COM.5451M, COM.5452M, COM.5453M & COM.5454M
CHIMERA, TELNET & FTP RUNNING UNDER X-WINDOWS - This set of disks has
everything you need to turn your ST into a pseudo UNIX workstation for
accessing the Internet via the World Wide Web. MiNTNet provides the
necessary multi-tasking networking capabilities, the Minix file system gives
you support for Unix commands and long filenames, and X-Windows is a port of
the popular graphic user interface from Unix, adapted to run in conjunction
with MiNTNet and Minix. These three vital elements provide the backbone for
a Unix-like setup on your ST. Also included is Chimera, a NetScape clone
which allows graphical browsing of the much hyped World Wide Web. Hooked
into Chimera are separate Telnet and FTP programs which allow you to log in
to remote computers and download archives from the various Internet ftp
sites. Setting up an ST to run the above system is usually a nightmare but
has been simplified by easy to follow installation instructions and an
automatic installation procedure by the Toronto Atari Federation (TAF). It's
certainly not Linux, but it is the next best thing (and it runs on an
'ordinary' ST. Please note that this package requires 4Mb of memory, a 10 Mb
separate hard drive partition set up for Minix and of course an account with
an Internet Service Provider who offers PPP. It also requires a high
resolution mono monitor.
COM.5468 LYNX, IRC II & DuFTP FOR MiNTNet - Three applications for use with
MiNTNet which provide WWW browsing, Internet Relay Chat and File Transfer
Protocol clients for Internet use. Lynx is a World Wide Web browser, but in
contrast to Chimera, it is text based. On the downside, you lose out on all
those beautiful graphics, one of the attractions of the Web. In its favour
is the fact that Lynx saves on your telephone bills since each page takes
only a fraction of the time to download. Internet Relay Chat is a system
whereby users from across the globe can join in live on-line sessions with
each other, and all for no more than the cost of a local telephone call. IRC
tends to be addictive, so watch that 'phone bill! DuFTP is a nice friendly
GEM based file protocol manager which lets you log on to those 'anonymous'
ftp sites and download the latest PD & Shareware releases. Please note that
all applications on this disk require 4 Mb and a hard drive and can only be
used if MiNTNet (S-COM.5448M, S-COM.5449M, S-COM.5450M, S-COM.5451M, S-
COM.5452M, S-COM.5453M & S-COM.5454M) is installed on your system.
COM.5515 STiK WEATHER FORECAST v0.4 by Jim Baumgardner and Dan Ackerman -
When used in conjunction with STiK on S-COM.5551 & S-COM.5552, it gives the
temperature, barometer, wind speed and humidity (displayed both graphically
and as text) for any major US city. It even remembers the city you last
requested data for, and uses it as your default setting. Interestingly, the
authors are working on a system which will extend coverage to the rest of
the world. MG-FTP V1.03 by Michael Guse - An ftp client for use with STiK.
It allows you to log onto an ftp server and up/download files. MG-FTP
supports both anonymous and password protected logons. The directories on
the remote machine are displayed in a window and almost everything is mouse
controlled. In fact you can even save your favourite sites in a hotlist so
that a simple selection from the list logs you straight on to the server.
Please note that Weather Forecast and MG-FTP will not work unless STiK is
installed and enabled. Also, both run under either single TOS or multi-
tasking environments. You will of course need an account with an Internet
Service Provider! STiK TIME by Guy Harrison. Runs as an ACC or PRG (under
multi-tasking systems) and appends details of connections via STiK, to
NOS.LOG so that CoSTa (on COM.5421) can include them in your call logging.
SBCABPRG by Guy Harrison - Install it as an external viewer for CAB
(COM.5313). It will then let you intercept files and save them to your
chosen destination, rather than have them disappear namelessly into the
cache! CD-ACCESS V0.99B by Rich Tietjens - Allows you to hook in CD-ROM
support to any BBS running on your Atari so that users can download files
from a CD-ROM attached to your system. FIRESTORM HTML BROWSER V0.049 by
Christian Andersson - An early version of an on-line World Wide Web browser.
Unfortunately many functions are either incomplete or disabled and it is
only possible to dial a pre-programmed Swedish number (from within Sweden).
This browser appears to be pre-STiK and CAB although it looks like it could
have potential. For non-Swedish users its only real use is as an off-line
HTML viewer and even then it doesn't cope with every page thrown at it. GDOS
or SpeedoGDOS must be installed in order to use this software. Now with docs
in ST-Guide (not included) and HTML formats.
COM.5551 & COM.5552 WWW ACCESS PACK - A growing suite of Shareware and
Freeware programs (most of which have UK registration) by different authors
which allows Atari users to access the world wide web. It runs in any
resolution and is a full graphic browser, unlike Lynx. The official WWW
package consists of STiK, CAB, CAB.OVL, AntMail, Telnet, IRC, Cache_Ed,
Weather Forecast, Finger and a specially written setup program to install
everything in the correct places on your hard drive and configured correctly
for your own ISP. You'll need a hard drive and at least 1 Mb of memory to
run this package. All are multi-tasking friendly and several of the
component parts of this package can be running simultaneously under such a
system. They also run reliably under single TOS. Here's a description of
what's what. STiK v1.12 by Steve Adam (now being maintained by Dan Ackerman)
- Consists of an Auto folder patch and ACC and provides the necessary
network layer through which everything else works. It dials up your ISP,
logs you on and returns control to the system so that you can run the
appropriate clients. Currently STiK (and therefore this entire package) only
works if your Internet Service Provider (ISP) supports the SLIP protocol.
PPP is not yet supported. COOL ATARI BROWSER v1.5 by Alexander Clauss (a
modified version of HTML Browser on COM.5183) is your Netscape clone which
allows you to surf the Web. It is now fully compliant with all HTML 2
commands and many from the emerging HTML 3 standard. In its current form it
offers most of the functionality of Netscape but without the memory
overhead! You can access, cache and display the URLs either on-line of off-
line and support for JPEG images (as used by some sites on the Web) is also
included. Pages are cached to your hard drive and accessed from the hard
drive the next time you need them to save on-line time, only downloading un-
cached pages. Obviously you can also read pages off-line. CAB can be
configured for English, French, Spanish, Swedish, Italian or German. CAB.OVL
v1.2904 by Tim Newsome (now maintained by Dan Ackerman) - This provides the
on-line support for CAB. It invisibly links CAB into STiK to allow URLs to
be accessed 'live' rather than merely loaded from disk. IRC v0.90 by Steve
Adam (now being maintained by Lonny Pursell) - Allows you to participate in
Internet Relay Chat (IRC). IRC is essentially a way of having live 'chats'
with lots of other computer users on-line. Everything happens in real time
and you can be 'talking' to several other users from all over the world
simultaneously! This latest version is GEM based and multi-tasking friendly.
TELNET V1.0 by Jim Baumgardner - A Telnet client for use with STiK. Telnet
allows you to log on to a computer on the Internet in a similar fashion to
using a standard terminal emulator (such as Connect) to connect to a BBS and
lets you wander around the system's directories as if it were directly
connected to your own machine. This lets you effectively cross hardware
platforms, like using a virtual machine! FINGER V1.30 by Lonny Pursell - A
'finger' client for use with STiK. It allows you to obtain information about
email addresses. Some servers give little information to the finger client,
others give masses! Useful for finding someone's email address, getting a
list of all users who match a certain specification or even to check if you
have mail waiting for you. STiK WEATHER FORECAST v0.3 by Jim Baumgardner and
Dan Ackerman - When used in conjunction with STiK it gives the temperature,
barometer, wind speed and humidity (displayed both graphically and as text)
for any major US city. It even remembers the city you last requested data
for, and uses it as your default setting. Interestingly, the authors are
working on a system which will extend coverage to the rest of the world.
ANTMAIL V0.79 by Dan Ackerman - A POP3 mail client for use with STiK.
Translated into plain English, it's an easy to use program which manages
your email for you. It supports multiple users, so several people using the
same account. For example, the_dog@abcd.atari.com, the_cat@abcd.atari.com
and the_budgie@abcd.atari.com will all have separate mailboxes when using
Antmail and incoming mail will be directed to the correct mailbox. It uses
SMTP to send mail and POP3 to retreive it. More systems are converting to
POP3, this could be a major feature. The main benefit of POP3 is that you
'ask' for your mail when you want to download it, rather than have it
'thrown' at you as soon as you log on (expensive at peak calling times!).
Antmail allows messages to be written on-line (whiles away the time when
you're in the middle of a big download!) or offline (saves on the 'phone
bill the rest of the time!). Please not that Antmail won't work unless your
ISP supports the POP3 protocol (most do). WWW INSTALLER V1.00 by Manfred
Ssykor - An easy to use program which installs everything in the right place
on your hard drive. An especially useful feature is its ability to update
individual programs in the pack without having to perform a full
reinstallation.
COM.5566 & COM.5567 OASIS 2.10 by Phil Yeadon and Dave Levi - The
ultimate Internet access package. This is the long awaited followup to Oasis
on COM.5249 and it now completely replaces AtariNOS with ICE, its own GEM
based on-line software, making it the complete solution for both on-line and
off-line use. Like its predecessor, Oasis 2 handles mail, newsgroups, ftp
and telnet sessions and comes complete with extensive docs in ST-Guide (not
included) format. Both SLIP and PPP protocols are handled correctly and
posting to newsgroups is now possible with all ISPs. Mail-wise, you have the
choice of using either SMTP or POP 3 standards. Automated logons for both
anonymous and password protected ftp access are supported, binary files can
be automatically uuencoded, yellow pages and outmail have been improved and
you can even perform searches in these databases. Finally, you can download
only newsgroup headers then mark the articles you want to download in full.
Shareware at its best, some functions are not fully operational but there's
more than enough to get started with. Includes simple to understand
instructions on how to get HS Modem (included) set up for your system. The
only thing you can't do is access the WWW (yet!). Includes conversion
utilities for your Oasis 1.35 mail, outmail, yellow pages and newsgroup
files. Needs 1 Mb and a hard drive.
COM.5626 MiNTNet FAQ v1.0 by Christer Gustavsson - A short text file
explaining how to set up a working MiNTNet system with the minimum of fuss
and bother. NOSFILES - Example STARTUP.NOS, DIAL.TXT and NNTP.DAT files for
use with AtariNOS. Also includes several useful text files relating to the
use of NOS, including the setting up of an ftp users file and the use of the
nntp commands. ATARI ST BBS CALLBACK FACILITY V2.0 by Andy Inman - monitors
the RS232 port for incoming calls. If detected, it drops the DTR, thus
preventing the modem from answering the call. The caller must then re-dial
within a pre-determined time in order to connect to your BBS. The main
purpose of this utility is to allow BBS operators who share a common voice
and data line, to determine which calls are voice and which are data. CAB
MINT V1.84 - A modified version of the CAB.OVL file which allows you to use
the WWW Access Pack (S-COM.5551 & S-COM.5552) when running MiNT/Multi-TOS.
SEMPER V0.79B by Jan Kriesten - A utility aimed at BBS sysops. It lets you
poll other machines in the network so that you can transfer mail packets
quickly and efficiently as well as requesting files from (or sending files
to) other machines on the network. Semper can hook into your own BBS
software and can operate via the serial, LAN or MIDI ports at speeds of up
to 230400 bps (hardware support permitting). It also supports direct
transfer over ISDN lines. Request a 'key' from one of the support sites to
give full access to all features (including high speed Hydra transfers) for
a limited period, then register for unlimited access. COMA.SYS - Installs a
SpeedoGDOS fax driver. This allows you to output a page from any SpeedoGDOS
compatible application, as a COMA/QFAX fax which can then be output via a
fax modem using COMA on DEM.4838. CALLTIME V1.0 by Bill Rice - Monitors your
modem and logs the date/time/telephone number of all calls received. Most
useful when printer output is selected, otherwise it just displays the data
on screen. Useful for finding out who called when you were out. Only works
with Hayes compatible modems which are Caller ID compatible.
COM.5633 TAZ V1.00 by Daryl Richards & Kevin Tessner - A terminal emulator
with a few noticeable extras like the ability to use 16 colours on a medium
resolution screen and support for speeds in excess of 38400 bps. It is based
on Telix on the PC and supports TTY, VT52 and ANSI emulations and both the
Atari and IBM character sets. Other features include a scrollback buffer
(lets you recap on anything which went flying up the screen) and a 200 entry
dial directory for all your favourite BBS numbers. File transfer supports
ASCII, X-Modem, Y-Modem or you can call any external transfer program (such
as XYZ.TTP). TAZ can be controlled by mouse or keyboard and includes an in-
built Help screen and a comprehensive manual on disk. MUNPACK V1.3 by Hans
Streibel - Allows you to encode/decode MIME encoded messages as used by many
PC/Mac applications. Only runs under MiNT/Multi-TOS. NOS POP3 - A modified
version of AtariNOS which supports the POP3 mail protocol rather than the
more common SMTP. Use this as a replacement for NOS.TTP when using Oasis
v1.35 (on F.5292) if your ISP uses POP3. You MUST use this version of NOS if
your ISP is Pavillion as they only support POP3, most others support both
standards.
COM.5678 RS TURBO V2.3 by Erik Kerger - A hardware modification for the ST
which allows the serial port speed to be increased from 19200 bps to 115200
bps (suitable for use with a 28800 bps modem using data compression). A
knowledge of electronics is required. Includes an IMG of the circuit diagram
and a listing for blowing into a GAL device. All in German but we've done a
RUF translation. TUW V1.22 by Peter Mayer - A TCP/IP package for connecting
multiple Atari (and other types of) computers over a local TCP/IP network.
The author used it to integrate STs and TTs into a network based around Sun
workstations. Must be interfaced to the network via an Ethernet card.
TUW4PAM by Torsten Lang - Similar to the above but by a different author.
Custom written for the PAM Ethernet cards which plug into the VME slot in
the TT and Mega ST. All in German but we've done a RUF translation of the
docs.
COM.5763 RS232-2 by Kari Alakuijala - A DIY project to construct a second
RS232 port for your ST. Especially handy if you have a serial mouse or
graphics tablet and wish to use it as well as a modem. Includes a circuit
diagram and full instructions. A knowledge of electronics is required. CACHE
ED V0.5 by Manfred Ssykor - A support program for use with the Crystal Atari
Browser on S-COM.5551 & S-COM.5552. When on-line with CAB, all pages (and
associated graphics) are saved to the cache directory under less than
helpful names. This utility identifies the pages/graphics by name and lets
you copy them to another location of your choice. Invaluable if you use CAB.
QWKBAK V0.1 by Simon Coward - Creates backups of QWK format (as used on most
bulletin boards) incoming and outgoing mail and saves them as dated files.
This prevents the old QWK files being overwritten every time you log on.
Invaluable if you need to backtrack to find out what someone said in their
last message or what you replied! Use in conjunction with Kivi (COM.5183),
Maximiser (COM.3104), Captain's QWK (COM.4149) or similar. AXOLOTL FOOTBALL
LEAGUE V8.8 by D Nelson - An on-line game which is compatible with any BBS
software which supports the commonly used 'doors' routines. As the name
suggests, it is an American Football League simulator. You can choose to
coach any team in the league and play against a computer controlled
opponent. It's not just a management/strategy simulator where the game runs
according to instructions, you actually participate by calling the shots
'live' during the game. The sysop sets up the timetable for the league and
players must call regularly to participate in each stage. There's even a
league table for the winners. AFL runs in text or ANSI mode and has full
instructions built into the game. ANTGNVAX - Replacement RSCs for AntMail
(from the WWW Access Pack on S-COM.5551 & S-COM.5552) so that the display
looks correct under the Geneva multi-tasking OS. Unless you have Geneva,
you'll see no difference by using these!
COM.5829 & COM.5830 PPP KIT V1.4 by Philippe Abel - Allows you to use
CAB (WWW Browser) with a service provider who supports the PPP protocol
rather than SLIP (as supported by STiK). It requires CAB (COM.5551) and HS
Modem (COM.4407) in addition to the files supplied. Unlike other MintNet
applications, you do not need to format a separate Minix partition. The kit
includes a cut down version of MintNet, MintNet compatible CAB.OVL as well
as all the MintNet setup files required and detailed instructions on how to
get the system up and running in both English and French. All you have to do
is edit the configuration files to suit your ISP. Needs 4 Mb and a hard
drive.
COM.5868 AFTP V1.4B1 by J & T Krivankove - A GEM based ftp client for use
with MintNet (S-COM.5829 & S-COM.5830). Put simply, it lets you connect to
ftp sites on the Internet to up/download files. This version has lots of
extras including the ability to receive commands from a CLI (or CAB), a
hotlist of your favourite sites, drag and drop between local and remote
drives and the use of different fonts. It requires MintNet and an AV aware
Desktop (Thing, Gemini, NeoDesk 4, Ease etc). BACKPLAY by Gary Priest -
Allows you to listen to all those sound samples on the Web. It works in
conjunction with NED PLAYER and (unlike similar programs) plays the sound
without opening a windows and therefore avoids mucking up CAB. It simply
works by passing the filename from CAB to NED PLAYER. BACKPLAY requires a
multi-tasking OS such as MagiC or Multi-TOS and of course you'll need NED
PLAYER too. FRAC IRC V1.10 by Tim Putnam - A GEM based IRC client for use
with STiK. It lets you connect to the real-time on-line chat service which
runs on the Internet. In fact #atari is a lively place to be! It lets you
set up your entire configuration using a series of menus rather than the
ancient script files. Up to 10 (IRC or DCC) channels can be accessed at any
time, just about everything can be customised and you can even send files
directly from one user to another via DCC transfers. Needs STiK on S-
COM.5551 & S-COM.5552. RSVE by Harun Scheutow - A DIY modification to the
ST's serial port which allows you to double the maximum speed of the port to
38400 bps, allowing speeds of up to 115000 bps (with compression) using a
28,800 bps modem. Includes diagrams and circuit board layouts as well as
full instructions (in German but we've done a RUF translation). This project
involves the creating of a GAL device so you'll need to have access to a GAL
programmer. XURL V2.40 - Extracts all URL references from the selected text
file and places them into an HTML document. Its main use is to extract URLs
from your mail or news files created by Oasis and place then in an HTML file
so that they can be clicked from within CAB to take you directly to the URL
without the need to retype. Obviously CAB is needed in order to make use of
XURL.
COM.5898 WEBSPINNER V1.10 by Simon Coward - The first Web authoring tool
for Atari computers. It lets you compose HTML pages, set the background
colour (or import a background image), create tables and lists (numbered or
bulleted) easily, position images and imported text in your document, apply
text attributes to individual words or entire paragraphs and much more.
Cutting and pasting is supported via the GEM Clipboard. Other features
include support for headings, page titles, line breaks, anchors and links
(both internal and external. This Shareware release lets you generate the
bare HTML code from simple mouse clicks but does not let you save your work.
Registered users can view the end results in CAB for a WYSIWYG display. Best
used on a display with at least 16 colours at 640x400 or better (TT or
Falcon) but ST low res is also supported. Webspinner can also be used as an
HTML viewer from within CAB. Separate versions for the ST and TT (or Falcon
with FPU). SDUU by Guy Harrison - Simply drop and archive or uuencoded file
onto this program and it will automatically work out whether or not it is
already uuencoded and uu(de/en)code it as required. HTML HELP v1.1 by
Matthias Japp - A useful utility to aid those developing Web pages. It lets
you view the HTML source and change filenames and paths. You can also
convert HTML into ASCII (removing tags automatically) and vice versa or
convert control codes to/from Atari/Mac/PC standards. Page title, background
colour, background image, text colour and colour for links can also be
altered to suit. The Info option lists all links from the page and images
attached to it. HTML HELP can also specify your desired Web browser and text
editor allowing WYSIWYG display and full editing if required. This is not a
Web page authoring tool like WebSpinner, it's more of a helping hand for
those wishing to tinker with existing pages. Program in both English and
German.
COM.5899 HOMEPAGE PENGUIN V1.7 by Matthias Japp - An excellent program
which generates a basic HTML homepage. Give it a title, select a background
colour/image, import some text, fill in a few details and save the results.
It's as simple as that, follow the prompts without any knowledge of HTML and
you've got a nicely presented page. It is then possible to spruce it up
manually. Program in both English and German. Needs to be run in 640x400 or
better so ST high res only (although the page itself can be in colour).
EXPIRE - Useful program which lets you expire all emails in your Oasis
OUTMAIL.TXT except for the number specify that you wish to retain eg; expire
all except the 100 most recent entries. KA9Q HELP - A collection of Help
files explaining every command supported by KA9Q as used in AtariNOS and
Oasis 1.35. I'm sure they can be configured to be called up from within NOS
but can't quite work out how! An invaluable source of documentation on NOS
commands, regardless. MR POINTY V1.26 by Rob Cooper & Darren Hook - A nice
easy to use program ideally suited to BBS sysops but equally useful for
those individuals set up as a point (or node) on a BBS network such as NeST,
FidoNet or TurboNet. It handles file echoes and mail echoes as well as
managing nodelists. Mr Pointy brings simplicity to an area of comms normally
avoided by all but the hardened enthusiast. WENSUITE V2.40b by OXO Concept -
At last, an alternative to the CAB browser (not that there's anything wrong
with CAB!). This version looks very similar to CAB is fully HTML compliant
and directly compatible with NetScape 2. This demo version is a complete
implementation of the package with the only restriction being that it is
restricted to viewing pages off-line. The full version is available direct
from 16/32 Systems.
COM.5979 VT102 TELNET V2.00 by Prof Boris Cahan - A VT102 compliant Telnet
client for use with STiK and GlueSTiK. Telnet is a method by which you can
log in to and communicate with remote computers on the Internet. This
program's main claim to fame is by offering VT102 emulation rather than the
more usual VT52 as included in Jim Baumgardner's Telnet program. You have an
almost complete VT102 emulation with the exception of blinking characters
and Tek 404 emulation (which are not supported). This is a multi-tasking
friendly GEM program, making it very easy to get to grips with. It can
also be used as the default Telnet program within CAB. Terminal size and
point size can be configured to suit. The program uses its own fonts in
order to create the necessary VT102 characters. The only restriction this
places on you is that you must have (Speedo)GDOS or NVDI loaded, otherwise
the program will not run. Needs 1 Mb.
COM.5980 LED v1.40 by Stephen Slabihoud - Originally developed as an off-
line message editor for BinkleyTerm (COM.5268) but fully compatible with any
BBS connected to the FidoNet network. It allows you to read your email and
reply to it, but you will still need some sort of mailer software such as
IOSMail, JetMail or Semper in order to retrieve your mail in the first
place. LED tends to be the 'standard' offline reader for those who are set
up as points on the FidoNet network, although it is perfectly usable for all
BBS users. Includes a useful utility which lets create your own printer
driver which maps unprintable screen characters onto others which can be
understood by the printer. Well documented in ASCII and ST-Guide (UTL.5557)
format in both English and German. This is a major upgrade of the program
which used to be on COM.5268.
COM.6043 STING V1.15 by Peter Rottengatter - A major new package which
completely replaces the STiK component of the WWW Access Pack. It features
an improved (completely) rewritten version of STiK incorporating new
features developed by many different authors over the past couple of years.
In addition to linking CAB, Antmail, MGFTP, FracIRC, Newsie and the likes to
the Internet, STiNG (ST Internet Next Generation) offers more. It supports
SLIP and CSLIP connection to the Net with PPP under development. Standard
serial communication is handled as is communication over the Midi and
Parallel (currently in development) ports. Ethernet (several commercial and
DIY Ethernet cards are available in Germany) and LAN are also under
development. Once in place, these features will allow STiNG to work as a
simple to use system for networking between Atari computers as well as
connecting your machine to the Internet. The package includes several CPX
modules allowing for easy configuration 'on the fly' as well as a
programmers' development kit and a fair amount of well written docs. STiNG
is modular and expected to evolve into a major package in its own right.
Although it is not 'finished', the Internet connectivity is. Highly
recommended. STUFIT V16/3/94 by Steve Caple - A Usenet to Fidonet interface.
It allows emails from Fidonet BBSs to be sent to the Internet (via a UUCP
account) and vice versa. It works for both personal emails and newgroup
postings. You need to have a UUCP account and a Fidonet address so its not
offering free Net access. What it does offer is the ability to access your
Internet messages from your local BBS or BBS messages from your Internet
account and reply from either account for convenience. You will also require
COMPRESS, JETMAIL, LED and of course UUCP software in order to use Stufit.
COM.6082 JETMAIL V0.99 by Daniel Rosin and Jorg Spilker - Mailer software
for use with Semper (COM.5626) and Binkley Term (COM.5268). It is really
only of interest to BBS sysops and anyone who is set up as a "point" to a
bulletin board on the FidoNet system. My understanding is that Jetmail
handles the bulk transfer of mail between BBSs and points within the FidoNet
system. The documentation assumes a working knowledge of the above packages
and means absolutely nothing to anyone who is not conversant with them. This
disk contains a limited demo version, but you can use it to obtain a free
key which gives you full access to Jetmail's features for three weeks, by
which time you can pay your shareware fee if you are still using this
package.
COM.6086 CHECK_M v1.0 by Kellis - Checks to see if you have mail at
selected intervals (from 2 to 120 minutes) when you are on-line. You can
then check the first 10 lines of any selected message and decide whether or
not to download that message. Check_M is for Internet use (alongside STiK)
and only works if you have a POP3 account. You must have the STENO text
editor installed if running under TOS, any text editor can be used if multi-
tasking. Needs at least 1 Mb. CNF CHECK by Brian Hauer - Inspects and
verifies configuration files for v0.47 and v0.48 of the Foresight BBS
software. Assuming the file passes a verification check, it displays an
interpretation of the CNF on screen. You can then spot and correct any
errors which are likely to upset Foresight. COMPOTEL V1.E by Francis Pierson
- A handy PRG or ACC for maintaining lists of telephone numbers. Any number
of telephone numbers may be stored and dialed directly by selecting them
from the list. There is also a dialpad which can be used manually to
initiate voice or data calls via your modem. When running on a Falcon, the
dialing tones can be heard via the speaker, on an ST they are just output
directly to the modem. Unfortunately program and docs are in French, but the
program is easily understood. DATABLAZE V2.7 by Sherry Mackiewicz - A
customised database which holds up to 500 names along with their
corresponding email addresses. It has a powerful search facility which only
requires a few letters to be typed in order to bring up possible matches.
Can be used for any type of email address (BBS or Internet). DRIVERS by
Torsten Lang - C and Assember sources (no executables) for drivers (one for
the ST, the other for STE) for the AMD LANCE (AM7990) Ethernet board and
PAM's DMA Ethernet adaptor. Documentation is in English but rather sparse
and suggests that the drivers are unfinished. IOS SHELL V0.1B by Martin
Howard - An adaptation of Rinaldo Visscher's IOS Shell for use with IOSMail
on COM.5317. It gives an easy to use GEM based front end to the rather
unfriendly IOS-MAIL.TTP program. POPWATCH V2.42 by Gary Priest - Very
similar to CHECK_M (above). It is also for Internet use and requires that
you have POP3 mail. It lets you check your mail without actually running
your mailer software (eg; you could be browsing the Web with CAB). You can
download selected items or even read portions of a message then decide
whether or not to download it. Messages may be removed or left on the
server. Downloaded messages are converted into the correct format for Oasis
1.xx, Oasis 2 or Newsie as appropriate. You can even set up a KILL file to
automatically delete junk mail from specified addresses. PURGE V1.2 by Phil
Hough - For use with Oasis 1.35 and NOS, it lets you automatically remove
specified newsgroup articles. You can filter out articles whose subject line
matches your config settings (eg: FS to eliminate for sale adverts) or
articles by individuals whose email address matches your specifications. An
ideal way to weed out junk.
COM.6099 ALTA LISTA V1.5 by Mathias Jaap - An excellent multi-purpose tool
designed for use with the CAB (COM.5552) or Wensuite (COM.5899) WWW
browsers. It lets you create html files which list all html files in a
specified directory. Clicking onto the entry in the list loads up the
appropriate html, regardless of its location on your drive. Alta Lista can
also produce thumbnail catalogues of all IMG, PNG, GIF or JPG images from a
specified directory. In such cases, the image name and size is displayed
beneath the thumbnail. With image catalogues you also have a link to a list
of image names and clicking onto these loads the image at full size. An
invaluable aid for keeping track of your downloaded html files or even just
for cataloguing the images on your hard drive. JOE V1.35 by Rajah Lone - A
Web page design package similar to WebSpinner. It lets you type text
directly onto a blank page or click onto the required tags from drop down
menus. An existing html file can be imported or you can start from scratch.
The various tags are all grouped under logical headings so it's just a case
of selecting the appropriate tag, then entering the required text between
the start and end tag. OK, so you need to know which tags to use but Joe
eliminates those all too often syntax errors encountered by those new to
html. Finally, Joe links into CAB (or WebSpace) to provide a WYSIWYG
environment if running on a multi-tasking OS. Unfortunately both program and
docs are in French but the fact that html tags are the same in any language
still makes this an invaluable tool. Would anyone like to translate? STiK
AUTO DIALER V2 by JFA Software - Place it in your Auto folder and it will
give you the option of logging onto the Net using STiK as soon as you boot
up. Otherwise you can run it from the Desktop to dial your ISP without
having to select the STiK ACC from the Desk menu. GIFMERGE V1.34 by Guido
Flohr - Lets you create GIF animations as used on the Web. Specify the
directory containing the images and set the appropriate parameters. You can
set transparency, animation speed, offset and whether or not the animation
should loop. HTML TEXT CONVERTER V1.5 by Stephane Perez - Converts an
ordinary ASCII file into HTML format by adding the appropriate headers and
line/paragraph breaks. Obviously you'll still want to jazz it up but this
program handles the more mundane tasks. In addition, it translates ASCII
characters above 128 into their html equivalents, essential for our European
friends. Program and docs in English and French. MURKS V1.05 by Christian
Lehmann - Removes all unnecessary text from uuencoded files, leaving only
the coded part. Extra text (eg; messages) attached to the uuencoded files
often confuses uudecode programs. This program eliminates the problem.
NET2CAB V1.02 by Mark Hammond - Converts bookmarks created by Netscape
Navigator (on PC or Mac) into the correct format for use in CAB v1.5's (or
above) hotlist. PROBE HOUSE DIALER V1.4 by William Wong - An ACC based modem
dialer. It lets you store up to 500 telephone numbers which can be easily
accessed from within any GEM based program. You can use it to make telephone
calls (using the modem to do the dialing) or to maintain a list of your
favourite BBS numbers. Up to 25 characters can be used as a description for
the number and the program works with all Hayes compatible modems. A search
function is included, you can set the baud rate for each entry and any
dialing errors are reported. TABI v1.5 by Matthias Jaap - Lets you create
tables for use in html files from ASCII tables which use commas, semi-colons
or tabulators as separators. The easiest way is to create your table in a
spreadsheet. You can of course change the text colour, background colour,
font size and cell alignment within the table. All this is done without
requiring a knowledge of html! Program and docs in English and German.
COM.6124 STANFORD GRAPHICS - A collection of over 350 GIF images which have
been designed specifically for use on Web pages. Quality varies but the best
of these are of a very high standard and will add a bit of sparkle to an
otherwise dull Web page.
COM.6138 NEWSIE V0.88 by John Rojewski - Primarily a Usenet News client for
use with STiK, although it can also handle the sending (by SMTP) and
receiving (by POP3) of email. It lets you select your favourite newsgroups
and read new articles on or off-line. You can also post new articles to
newsgroups or followups to existing articles. This latest version extends
its email capabilities with support for binary attachments in uuencoded or
MIME encoded formats. Multiple mail boxes are supported as is the ability to
transfer messages between mailboxes. Newsie also handles FTP, allowing you
to download software directly from the 'Net. Program and docs in English,
French, Italian and Swedish. Newsie only works if STiK is installed.
COM.6164 CAB-FTP V0.3 by Manfred Ssykor - An FTP client (allows you to
download programs and files from Internet sites) for use within CAB. Install
it as the default application for ftp and CAB-FTP will be called in every
time you try to access a URL beginning ftp:// rather than http://. This
makes it much simpler than having to use a separate ftp program. CAB-FTP can
of course be run as a separate application alongside STiK, independently of
CAB if required. NEWSWATCH V2.00 by Gary Priest - Lets assume you use Oasis
for newsgroup access and CAB for WWW browsing. They use different methods of
connecting to your ISP and therefore necessitate two calls. This program
allows you to send and receive Usenet news articles via Oasis 1.3x, Snews or
Oasis 2 using STiK rather than NOS or ICE. In effect it means that you can
send and receive news articles during a session with STiK without having to
log on again with Oasis. You still create the messages in Oasis and read
downloaded messages in Oasis, it's just that you don't need to make a second
call to your ISP in order to send/receive the news articles. MAKE_GET by
Swampdog - Lets you download only the headers of Usenet newsgroup articles
rather than the entire articles when using Oasis 1.xx. You can then select
the articles you wish to read and download only those ones in their
entirety. You need Oasis 1.xx (COM.5249) and POP NOS (COM.5633) in order to
use this program. SDURL by Swampdog - Extracts all URL and other user-
definable links from a text file or html and outputs them to an html ready
for use in CAB. More links can be added to the html file at any time as your
original file will not be over-written, merely merged with the new data and
re-sorted alphabetically. T-MAIL SERIES 3 by Ben van Bokkem - A complete E-
Mail/F-Mail/EchoMail/QMail replacement system for use with Turbo Board and
QBBS systems, although most functions also operate on other systems. It
checks the user's data files for handles and privilege flags and handles
automatic deletion of messages and files at logoff, gating to other networks
and so forth. There is support for up to 10 sigs, each of which can have
from 20 to 80 echo bases. Lots more features (too many to describe here).
Extensively documented.
COM.6195 FIRST HTML V1.00 by Yannick Lecaillez - Converts ASCII text to HTML
and HTML to ASCII. Nicely presented using Christophe Boyanique's Easy GEM
interface. It can handle batch conversions using the * and ? wildcards as
well as converting single files. Docs are in French but this is no problem
as the program is obvious in use. Just remember to specify the extension as
well as the pathname for converted files, otherwise the program exits!
CORETOOLS by Peter Rottengatter - A collection of five small programs for
use with Peter's STiNG Internet connection package. PING - Lets you bounce a
signal to any IP address and wait for it to come back. Its main use is to
check connectivity. It lets you confirm if the selected host machine is
connected and running, if so it reports how long a message takes to reach it
and return to your machine. SAVE_IP - Nowadays most ISPs assign your IP
address dynamically (i.e. you get a different address randomly allocated
each time you log on. This program saves that address in a log file. If
running a SLIP connection and your computer crashes, reset the computer
(without switching off the modem) then use the saved IP address to resume
your on-line session without having to redial. Invaluable if your ISPs lines
are busy and difficult to connect to. TRACEROUTE - When messages are sent
over the Net, they hop from one machine to the next until the destination
machine is reached. This program reports back the IP numbers of all machines
you message has passed through on route to its destination. SYSINFO - Gives
detailed information such as version number, error stats, compile date and
much more, for STiNG and all currently loaded modules. Invaluable when
trying to debug crashes and such like. SHUTDOWN - In some cases, especially
when using older comms software, STiNG causes the system to crash when you
reset the computer. This program removes STiNG from all system vectors and
the Cookie Jar so as to fix the problem. Can be run from the Desktop. If
running MagiC, simply put it into the STOP directory to have it run each
time you shut down Magic. GLUESTIK V0.03B2 by Scott Bingham - A modified
version of STiK (COM.5551) which is designed for use with MiNTNet (S-
COM.5829 & S-COM.5830). It consists of a device driver and a number of
support utilities. Docs are sparse and you are expected to have a working
knowledge of both MiNTNet and the conventional STiK package. Might also work
with MiNT but I'm not sure. Includes full C sources.
COM.6197 DRACONIS INTERNET CONNECTION PACKAGE V04/98 by J Heitmann - A complete
connectivity suite, offering a real challenge to the sacred land ruled by
CAB and Wen Suite. It consists of the The Light of ADAMAS Web Browser,
Marathon Mail and the basic configuration, connection and dialer utilities.
It does not currently include a news reader. DICP does not require StiK or
STiNG, it uses its own PPP networking layer. At a glance, the mail client
supports multiple mailboxes, accounts with multiple ISPs, multiple mail
folders (useful for filing messages you wish to retain), the sending and
receiving of binary attachments and a few other extras. The browser supports
extensive cache management, security features, off-line and on-line browsing
and a hotlist for keeping track of your favourite URLs. There's even a hint
of Java support in a future version. Both the mailer and the browser draw
heavily from ideas seen on older versions of Microsoft's Internet Explorer
and Internet Mail & News packages on other platforms. DICP is Freeware in
its current state (this is a beta release) but the final version could well
go commercial if proposed features live up to their promise. The package is
supplied with English and German RSC files but comes with no documentation.
Theoretically you just need to install it and input your personal details to
get up and running. Needs 1Mb. Hard drive recommended but not essential. DIP
EDIT V0.6 by Dan Ackerman -Lets you create dial up scripts for your ISP.
Essentially what it does is take you through a nice friendly question and
answer session dressed up in a GEM interface, where it ensures you enter the
data given to you by your ISP into the correct places in your dial up
script. DIP EDIT is intended for use setting up MiNTNet (S-COM.5829 & S-
COM.5830) though the scripts it creates could easily be adapted for use with
STiK and other packages. A useful tool for beginners struggling to get onto
the Net. WEB PAGE CREATOR V2.0 by Rob Mahlert - We've all seen WebSpinner
and HP Pengiun, Web Page Creator is another program of that genre. In its
current format it is a little rough around the edges offering only
text/graphic import, horizontal lines, background images and links, with no
real control over the positioning of elements on the page. However, it is a
very simple program to use and therefore ideally suited to someone who knows
nothing of HTML and wants a simple homepage run up in a matter of minutes.
Medium res only.
COM.6226 HOMEPAGE PENGUIN PRO V2.08 by Matthias Jaap - This program is one
of the most well designed (and useful!) I've seen in a long time. It's a
followup to Homepage Penguin on COM.5899. No longer Shareware, this is a
demo version of a commercial release. HPP Pro lets you create rather
astounding Web pages without the need to see a single HTML command. It
sounds rather far fetched, but it's true. Like its predecessor, it lets you
turn ASCII text and an image of your choice into a nicely presented page,
but that's where the similarity ends. This version can be run in colour as
well as mono, supports background images, multiple frames, sound, different
fonts, text alignment, two column text, simple selection of text/background
colours, re-sizing of images and lots more. It even supports a number of
features not currently handled by today's Atari Web browsers! Other features
include real-time previews within CAB and support for plug-ins. If you want
to learn HTML, you can optionally have HPP Pro insert comments into your
file explaining the use of the commands! Docs in ST-Guide (UTL.5557) format.
This demo version has the Navigator (gives you almost complete freedom in
the design of your page), OLGA support, BubbleGEM support and lots of other
advanced features disabled. This version does let you save your pages and is
therefore a great tool for experimentation. When you get the urge to "do
more", the full version can be purchased from FaST Club in the UK.
COM.6194 APACHE V1.2.5 by Jan P Schmidt - Have you ever wanted to use your
Atari as a server on the WWW or as an Intranet server for your company? Look
no further, Apache is all you will ever need in order to achieve this (as
well as a high speed modem and an account with an ISP of course!). It is
based on NCSA's HTTPD Web server software which was the most commonly used
server software prior to Apache's release. Apache now leads the pack. It is
distributed as Freeware and this is the Atari version. Apache comes with an
extensive user manual (in HTML format of course) but is not recommended for
beginners. Now for the catches.... You will need at least 4Mb of memory, a
minimum screen resolution of 640 x400 (ST high unless you have a graphics
card) and masses of hard drive space to use as server space. It is also
desirable to have a permanent connection to the Net, otherwise your server
will be inaccessible to other users except when you are on-line. The way to
get round this is of course to have your main Web page on a permanent site
with a link to your home/work machine and state it will only function at
certain times. Some users are already employing this method. One last snag,
you must be running MiNT or MiNTNet as Apache does not run under TOS or
MagiC.
COM.6198C MYMAIL v0.61b by Erik Hall - One of the most highly polished
mailer programs ever written on an Atari. It is very graphically oriented
with animated colour icons, but it's not all gloss, it's a highly capable
program. Mymail uses either STiK (COM.5551) or STiNG (COM.6043) to connect
to the outside world, so it is essential to have one or other installed
before running the program. Features include the ability to check the
subject line and sender's name before downloading mail (also lets you delete
unwanted mail without downloading it), send and receive uuencoded and Base64
encoded attachments without the use of external programs, check the server
for new messages at preset intervals when on-line, maintain mailing lists
allowing you to send a single message to multiple recipients, option to
automatically add signature file to all messages, and a whole lot more.
Mymail includes all the features of Oasis, Newsie and Antmail along with a
handful of invaluable extras, all dressed up in the most eye-grabbing
interface you're ever likely to see. It supports OLGA (UTL.6071), BubbleGEM
(UTL.6021), AV server messages and Multi-TOS's drag and drop protocol. All
docs in HTML format so you'll need a copy of CAB (COM.5552) in order to read
them. Here's the down side, Mymail needs to run on an AES supporting
animated colour icons (N.AES, MagiC, Multi-TOS or TOS 4.xx). Even if you
have one of the above, it still needs to be run in at least 16 colours with
a minimum screen width of 640 pixels. This effectively means that when run
on an ST, you either require a graphics card or a virtual screen driver such
as LaceScan (UTL.6185). Requires at least 1Mb and a hard drive.
COM.6286 FIRENEWS V0.76 by Christian Andersson - Another news reader program
designed to take the pain out of ploughing through all those Usenet
newsgroups. It works with STiK or STiNG and provides a slick modern GEM
interface. Firenews is under constant development (not all functions are
completed in this version) along with its companion program, Babel. Almost
everything in Firenews is user configurable, making it one of the best news
readers around. Several features (which are already completed) are disabled
in this version. These will be enabled when you register and registration is
free! Firenews also interfaces with AntMail, Newsie or Infitra to handle
your email, providing a total solution for email and newsgroup access. Needs
1Mb and a hard drive. Doesn't run unless NVDI is installed! HTML2TXT V1.0 by
Thomas Salin - Converts any HTML file (as found on the Web) into pure ASCII
by removing all the custom tags. This program goes further than most in that
it reformats the layout of the text to match that of the HTML document.
Admittedly it does not handle tables correctly but the ASCII text does give
a close match to the original document layout-wise in all other respects.
A2HTML V0.3 by Tommy Andersen - Converts an ASCII text file into HTML code.
Although you could do this manually, A2HTML inserts the correct tags and
maintains the formatting of the original. Characters used in Eastern
European languages are handled correctly by A2HTML. When performing the
conversion, it converts your text from Atari ASCII to the 7-bit ISO-8859-1
character set to ensure compatibility with users of different machines
accessing your pages. It can create its html output from standard Atari
ASCII files or ISO-8859-1 files. As well as the executable (for TOS only), C
sources are supplied for compiling on the Atari or under Linux. The Linux
version even accepts Atari (as well as Unix) ASCII files as its input. THE Z
FILES by Roy Goring - Two documents explaining how to set up STiNG for use
on Zetnet and how to configure the software supplied by Zetnet in order to
get you on-line for the first time. It also gives details on how to get
further assistance once you've finally made the connection, so you can iron
out any remaining problems. INFITRA V1.0 by Eabe Kuik - Another emailer
program. Infitra is very well presented, using the modern face of GEM, is
multi-tasking friendly and support graphic cards. It is fully compatible
with STiK and STiNG. Infitra features support for multiple email addresses
(eg; sdelaney@zetnet.co.uk, floppyshop@cyberstrider.org etc), each with its
own mailbox. What's more, your list of email contacts are stored separately
for each email account. This makes Infitra ideal for handling "family
accounts" where each member of the family can have his email delivered to
his own mailbox and can access a list of email addresses which pertain to
his contacts and nobody else's. As well as simply downloading your mail, you
can also check the mail headers and decide which mail to download and even
delete (or defer downloading of) mail with huge attachments or known junk
mail without even having to download it. You can attach files to messages
and extract attachments which are in uuencoded format and queue up messages
for sending at a later time. One of the best mailer programs yet. Please
note, Infitra is mono (or graphic card) only. Needs 1Mb and a hard drive.
